Spiritual Partying

Article Dated : Monday, 01 Mar 2010 08:38

Can anyone say HOLY SPIRIT PARTY??? A quote from a wise man about our week: “So probably for a lot of you, when I say the Holy Spirit, you either say, woah that's scary or wow he's crazy. And I agree with both of these. The Holy Spirit is crazy and scary, and people who are led by him are also rather odd.” We had an amazing man speak to us this week named Stefaan Hugo. He leads the Worcester YWAM Base in South Africa as well is the Sub Sahara YWAM Director and is hugely anointed. He spoke of his scientific double degree background and how when he first met the Holy Spirit he wanted to logically disprove everything that was happening in the room he was in; then BAM the Holy Spirit met him electrifyingly. Stefaan took us through the Holy Spirit’s roles in our lives. And how our perception of the Holy Spirit is usually warped by people and our own knowledge. A big thing we got out of the week is that our western logical minds get in the way of letting and asking the Holy Spirit to move. We box him up in our reason and fear the unknown. But we saw him move, we saw joy and tears and gifts. We also got to participate in a huge Youth Street festival which was also connected to the ship tour. This began a huge drive for collecting spectacles and toothbrushes for Papua New Guinea. The concert included a night featuring dancers and bands and a short film about why the boat is sailing up and down the east coast of Australia as a means to empower young people to change the world. During the middle of the week we also got to hang out with our YWAM family from at least 5 different bases nationally. It was amazingly fun especially the giant game of touch football at the end. The Holy Spirit is powerful and exciting and has touched us as a school and freed us to powerfully reach out and bless others in strange and wonderful ways. We hope your week is blessed.
