Did you know that this year YWAM is now 50 years old? Being the avid baby boomer YWAM is celebrating at loactions all over the world for an entire year. It is important to stop and acknowledge what God has done. YWAM Australia had 2 locations for their 50th JUBILEE week long celebrations on the East Coast and the West Coast.
Our theme was that 'the flame goes forward'.
Our base attended the East Coast celebration held in Canberra. There were over 500 YWAMers, Alumni, and additional Guests. The week included daily sessions, worship, teaching, prayer, and good food. On the Wednesday our YWAM founders Loren and Darlene Cunningham arrived and brought testimonies of Gods faithfulness to our mission the past 50 years. There was also a word on YWAM's past, the present, and where God is taking us into the future. It was encouraging to hear about all the exciting testimonies of God changing lives and transforming nations.
On the last night Loren challenged YWAM Australia to be a light and make deliberate strategies in sending out Bibles to every nation, tribe, and tongue. The word of God is the book that transforms nations and we as YWAM missionaries have a mandate to ensure that task is made complete.
YWAM Newcastle volunteered during the conference on the worship team, assisting meal preparations, and also running the Youth Street cafe ( which was in itself a blessing in return to us).
Over 100 of us drove down from Newcastle and camped at the conference on the front of YWAM Canberra's land. The weather was kind to us and the schedule allowed for plenty of social time to catch up with the wider family from other YWAM operating locations.

On the Friday morning session the week was wrapped up and we read the Jubilee commitment which was followed by a time of communion and praying with each other. God was speaking to us in detail and we were all committed to ensure it was worked out practically.
YWAM Newie said goodbye to the October DTS outreach teams and made the trip back to Newcastle Friday aftertoon. It was a dynamic trip involving intercession for one of our vans which was finding it difficult in the 40C plus temperatures.
This week as things return to the usual pace; we are challenged to consider what God has done and spoken during the Jubilee in Canberra. Tomorrow at base day there will be a time dedicated to work through what we experienced and the steps needing to be taken in obedience to receive all that God has for us into the next 50 years.
