Youth Street is a community development project aimed at reaching young people ages 12-17. It was created to provide a safe place where young people feel valued and can learn to build healthy relationships while discovering their purpose.
The vision of Youth Street is to adopt, to accept, to love and to listen. Imagine creating a place for our kids to go to where there is no risk of danger and through a positive, affirming atmosphere they have the freedom to be themselves and express themselves-freely, artistically, and creatively without the fear of receiving scorn or rejection in return.
History of Youth Street:
Youth Street was originally conceived by the leaders here at YWAM Newcastle with the vision to create a youth convergence zone in our city. Officially launched in 2001, Youth Street became a citywide project with a primary focus of building community and championing young people using a number of programs and activities. It has since been developed and multiplied across Australia in Townsville, Mt Isa, Darwin, Sydney, and our first international location has been launched in Tijuana, Mexico!
